When Tyler and Avery are given a dog that talks, they agree on one thing, Stan's ability to speak must be kept a secret from everyone, even their parents.

Tyler is learning to drive, so when Stan the dog takes the car for a spin and smashes the front end Tyler gets the blame. Stan works out how to get Tyler off the hook.

Stan is kidnapped while being a last-minute stand-in as the Terriers' mascot. Avery steals the rival's pig mascot, then discovers Tyler kidnapped Stan and must return the pig.

Tyler meets Nikki, a girl he fancies. Noticing she has a dog, he invites her on a dog walking date and explains to Stan why they are going; Stan sees a lady dog he likes, so Tyler returns the favour, acting as a wingman.

Stan starts playing an online role-playing game and the other players assume he is a person. When he arranges to meet up fellow players he takes Avery to pretend to be his Human self.

It's the family's first Christmas together and Avery is prepping Tyler, Chloe and Stan.
