Crimson Wedding

Sandra, restaurant owner Claire’s daughter, is getting married. Surprisingly Sandra’s sister Alice, who has been living in Australia for the past four years for unclear reasons and had severed contact with her family, also attends the wedding. While the festivities are still underway, Alice finds Sandra dead. She has fallen from a higher terrace onto a pier. Alice’s ex-boyfriend Vincent takes charge of the police investigation. Neither he nor Alice can imagine that Sandra fell, let alone that she killed herself. Although there is nothing to indicate a murder, Vincent’s suspicions fall on Anthony, who has a criminal record and took part in the wedding party as the restaurant’s supplier and has since disappeared. Meanwhile Alice is sent an anonymous phone video showing Anthony having sex with Sandra. While the investigation is not really progressing, old conflicts bubble up again. Alice refuses to provide a convincing explanation for her sudden emigration, to her father Guy as well as her ex Vincent. In addition, during a fight she accuses her mother Claire of having destroyed her life. Vincent’s parents Pierre and Cathy are incriminated by the following discovery: Fabio, who was in prison for four years because he supposedly killed Vincent’s brother Simon in an accident, is a free man once more. In a flashback to the scene of the accident we see Fabio promising Claire, who is leaning against the vehicle, that he will help get her out of trouble...

After a meeting with Claire, Fabio wants to convince Blandine to stop blackmailing Claire. But Blandine tries to manipulate Fabio and set him up against Claire. Finally, she even raises the amount she is demanding from Claire. At the same time, Etienne also starts blackmailing Géraldine. Four years previously he was the emergency doctor at the scene of the accident and found Sandra’s watch next to Simon’s corpse and concluded that Sandra drove the vehicle. He offers Géraldine to continue to keep this knowledge to himself if Géraldine marries him. After William has denied knowing Anthony Pascuali, Vincent’s suspicions against him are corroborated. But William claims he is unaware of the sex video of Sandra and Anthony and was only threatening him at the wedding because he was harassing Sandra. Camille is increasingly worried about her relationship. She senses that Vincent remains attracted to Alice, although he denies this and even appears quite unapproachable towards Alice. Through a threatening text message on William’s phone, the investigators come upon Karen Maistre who was cadet at the same time as William and his friends and who accused the men of rape four years previously. When Karen casually mentions that these rapes occurred on the same day as Simon’s death in the accident, Vincent suspects that there must be a connection between all these (death) cases. His suspicions are confirmed when he discovers Karen on the photos of William and Sandra’s wedding. She appears to have secretly mingled with the guests. Marc is in such a state about his son William’s arrest that he even has a physical altercation with a colleague and is fired. He then goes to the police and incriminates himself in Anthony’s murder. After Claire has told Alice the whole truth about Fabio, Sandra’s accident and Blandine’s blackmail, mother and daughter become closer again. But then Claire has an episode while they are driving together and causes a serious accident.

The attempt to steal the “evidence” of Sandra’s hit and run has failed: Alice didn’t find the watch. Géraldine remains blackmailable and has to watch powerlessly as Etienne takes away her life’s work, her beach bar. Camille’s attempted suicide also failed. Guy was able to save her but she is now in a coma. Whether and in what state she will wake up is totally unclear. Vincent blames himself because he suspects she may have got wind of the situation with him and Alice. After Blandine’s fatal fall Fabio, who in his desperation secretly got Claire’s advice, reports his fiancé as missing. Vincent is immediately alarmed and gives Fabio a grilling, but he insists he doesn’t know anything about Blandine’s whereabouts. But then Blandine’s body is discovered and Vincent is convinced that Fabio killed her. All he can see in Fabio is the murderer of his brother Simon. Who knows what else he has to answer for... Meanwhile Alice tries to find out who the mother-of-pearl pendant belongs to, which she found in precisely the spot where her sister Sandra fell to her death. She soon suspects Camille is the owner and tells her mother about it. Claire takes on the task of informing Vincent about the find and to imply the likely suspect. Plagued by doubt, Vincent searches through Camille’s jewelry for her pendant of the same kind. But it has disappeared and he can hardly ask Camille about it... Instead, he immerses himself in the four-year-old file on his brother Simon’s death by accident. Soon he begins to notice discrepancies, so he asks Simon’s friends to recount the evening of the accident once more - and their version differs greatly to what the file says. This allows for the conclusion that Simon was running away from something or someone...

Vincent tries to find out where there might be a connection between the deaths of Sandra and Anthony as well as his brother Simon’s fatal accident. He notices that Fabio is not telling the whole truth but is not making progress in the cross-examination. At least it turns out that Camille’s mother-of-pearl pendant is still there, so she has nothing to do with Sandra’s death after all. And to everyone’s great relief, Camille wakes up from her coma after her suicide attempt and suffers no grave complications. However, Vincent discovers that the mother-of-pearl pendant found at the scene of the accident belongs to his mother Cathy. He asks himself what Cathy might have to do with Sandra’s death. After his release from custody, William wants to get his life in order. He decides to get closer to his father’s new family and finally confess the truth about the sexual assault on Karen Maistres. Meanwhile Claire wants to help Géraldine quash Etienne’s blackmail. The two women set a trap for Etienne: Claire follows him to the place where he has hidden Sandra’s watch and is able to overpower him with Guy’s help and take the watch from him. Géraldine is relieved and finally breaks up with Etienne. When Alice confesses to Vincent that not Fabio but Sandra caused the accident with Simon back then, the suspicion arises in Vincent that Cathy could have pushed Sandra from the terrace in order to take revenge for Simon’s death. Vincent confronts his mother with his terrible suspicion. Cathy explains that she witnessed Anthony sexually harassing Sandra at the wedding, which is how she coincidentally found out that her son Simon’s death was Sandra’s fault. She harshly accused Sandra, who then threw herself down the cliff. When he secretly listens in on his wife’s confession, Pierre suddenly realizes that he must have been the catalyst for his son Simon’s death. That night, Simon happened to observe drunk Sandra snuggling up to Pierre naked after bathing in the sea. Simon misunderstood the situation and drove off in an agitated state. Sandra noticed this and, equally agitated, drove off after him and caused the accident. Pierre cannot bear his guilty conscience and wants to shoot himself. But Vincent is able to prevent this at the last minute. While Guy and Claire finally make up, Alice and Vincent amicably agree that they cannot have a future as a couple and Vincent declares himself to Camille.
