Les Misérables
After swiping a loaf of bread to feed his family, Frenchman Jean Valjean is put behind bars. After countless failed attempts, the poor man finally manages to escape from prison -- but not from the attentions of determined police officer Javert. Years pass, and Valjean has made a new life for himself as the mayor of a French town. But his secret past comes back to haunt him when his old adversary suddenly makes an appearance.
