Emily Holmes

Born in Ottawa and raised in Toronto, Emily Holmes had long dreamed of becoming an actress before she enrolled in the University of British Columbia, where she studied to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting. Her first gig was an appearance on the MTV comedy show "2gether: The Series" on two episodes in 2000 and 2001. In 2002, Holmes guest starred in Steven Spielberg's sci-fi miniseries "Taken" and also appeared on a few episodes of the fantasy-drama series "Stephen King's Dead Zone." Holmes appeared briefly in John Woo's "Paycheck" in 2003, while in 2004 she put in many television appearances, among them roles on two sci-fi-themed shows, "Stargate SG-1" and "Andromeda." Holmes soon landed a major supporting role in the much-hyped thriller "Snakes on a Plane" alongside Samuel L. Jackson in 2006. She then took a break from action and sci-fi to star as Rembrandt's mistress in Peter Greenaway's 2007 biopic "Nightwatching." One year later, Holmes returned to sci-fi for the miniseries "The Andromeda Strain." She then went on to play a supporting role in the action-horror film "Prisoners of the Sun" in 2010. The following year, she starred in another biopic, this time starring as J.K. Rowling's sister Diane in the television movie "Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story."
