Webb was born in Montgomery, Ala. the daughter of Alan and Leslie Webb. She grew up in Phenix City, Ga. near the city of Columbus, and went to middle school there. She grew up with an enthusiasm for outdoor activities including skeet shooting and fishing. In 2007, she graduated from Northside High School in Columbus. Webb attended Auburn University and earned her bachelor's degree in 2011with a major in business management and administration. In 2012, she was juggling jobs as a professional model and a training director at Chick-fil-A in Columbus. Her modeling work was bolstered by her Miss Alabama crown that year, but nothing could compare to the coming career boost. During the ESPN telecast of the 2013 college football championship, numerous images were shown of Webb in the stands wearing McCarron's jersey. Announcer Brent Musburger remarked on Webb's beauty and jokingly expressed jealousy to fellow announcer and former quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, saying on-air, "I'm telling you, you quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. What a beautiful woman!" Herbstreit agreed, saying about McCarron, "A.J.'s doing some things right down in Tuscaloosa." Soon after the cameras and announcers focused on her, Webb was trending worldwide on Twitter. Alabama rolled to victory and Webb rolled to viral celebrity status, gaining nearly 150,000 followers on her Twitter feed in 24 hours. Within a year of her gaining sudden celebrity, Webb did everything from sports journalism to modeling to appearing on a reality show about high-diving celebrities titled "Splash" (ABC, 2013). Webb was joined by other celebs including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nicole Eggert and Louie Anderson, but sustained a back injury and withdrew after five weeks.
