Astronaut John Crichton, on an experimental space mission, is accidentally hurled across the universe to the midst of an intergalactic conflict. Trapped among alien creatures wielding deadly technology and hunted by a merciless military race, Crichton is on an epic odyssey more spectacular than anything he ever imagined.

Crichton returns home to find that the wormhole he traveled through never closed and Earth has been vastly affected by it.

To save Aeryn’s life, Crichton infiltrates a Peacekeeper base, but soon faces torture in an alien high-tech “electric chair” and his worst nightmare – his enemy Crais.

Crichton awakens in a hospital room and is told he never left Earth – by a doctor who looks exactly like Aeryn.

With the Command Carrier destroyed, Crichton now turns his thoughts toward home. He sees himself on Earth, experiencing what should be a perfect union of all his desires: home, shipmates, and especially Aeryn, all together. Except the fantasies keep going sour. With the help of a strange old alien woman rescued from the wreckage of the Command Carrier, Crichton realises that he must decide between his two dreams: Aeryn or the possibility of returning to Earth.
