Melanie Kilburn

British actress Melanie Kilburn trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. She landed her first role in the 1983 made-for-television movie "The Last Company Car," in which she played the lead character, Maureen. Kilburn appeared in several TV movies and series before winning the recurring role of Carol Anderson in "Soldier Soldier," a program about the officers of the King's Own Fusiliers regiment, in 1991. This paved the way for regular roles in other TV series including "Where the Heart Is" and "Down to Earth." In 1998 Kilburn began an eight-year stint on the crime drama series "The Bill." She played Police Constable Laura Bryant, a single mother juggling the demands of her job and her responsibilities as a parent. After the end of her part in "The Bill" in 2006, she took various roles in TV series and short films before landing a recurring part in 2009 as Olive Halsall in the short-lived series "All The Small Things." This BBC program about the members of a church choir featured the cast's musical performances of popular songs and ran for only six episodes. Since then Kilburn has taken parts on numerous television shows, including 2011 appearances on both "Inspector Lewis" and "Midsomer Murders."
