Mikkel Boe Følsgaard

Born in Rønne, Denmark, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard got a small taste of what it was like to be on the screen as a teenager, when he played a small role on an episode of the Danish series "Bryggeren" (DR, 1996-97). It was enough of a push that the young Følsgaard decided to focus his energies on acting. He managed to land work while still in acting school, and won the award for Best Actor at the Berlinale in 2012 for his work in the much-lauded film "A Royal Affair" (2012). In period piece, directed by Nikolaj Arcel, Følsgaard plays the mentally ill king of Denmark, whose wife engages in an affair that brings down the monarchy. The film also starred two of Denmark's most popular actors, Alicia Vikander and Mads Mikkelsen. In 2014, Følsgaard premiered as a series regular on the drama series "The Legacy" (DR, 2014-17) featuring another legendary Danish actress, Trine Dyrholm. After that series ended in 2017, Følsgaard quickly landed another series regular role to follow-up, this one on the post-apocalyptic drama "The Rain" (Netflix, 2018-).
