Nick's life is turned upside down when he and his Mom move in to a new house across the street from a mysterious junkyard. With the help of the girl next-door Shania, Nick discovers that the junkyard is home to a genius kid scientist named Anne and her three amazing android creations Hand, Eyes and Pal.
Anne asks Nick and Shania to take care of the androids while she works out the kinks in "newborn" Pal's construction. Nick and Shania decide to play hide and seek but when Nick accidentally sends the androids into super-hiding mode, the kids have to find them before Pal's circuits overload.
Nick is stuck mowing the lawn instead of hanging out with his friends in the junkyard. To help out, Anne decides that they should build a lawn-mowing robot to take care of Nick's time-consuming chore. Too bad his Mom keeps coming to the junkyard to check on their progress, almost discovering Pal each time she does.
Hand feels left out and sad when Anne would prefer to use Pal to help with an experiment; she thinks Anne likes Pal better. Nick devises the Android Games to show Hand what she's good at but the plan backfires when Eyes and Pal unexpectedly shine in the games.
Shania wants to make a garage band with her brothers but they are not interested. Lucky for Shania, the androids would love to be in a band with her and are quick studies. While Anne and Nick work on upgrading the junkyard security system, Shania and the androids build instruments out of junk and create a garbage band.
When Eyes wants to fly like a butterfly, Anne, Nick and Shania try giving him wings and attach a helicopter apparatus to him, but those attempts have less than stellar results. They finally settle on the simplicity of helium balloons. Unfortunately, the helium balloons send Eyes floating out of the junkyard and it's up to the kids to get him back where he belongs.
