When her father Ludo ends up in hospital after a serious hunting accident, Isabelle returns to The Netherlands with her son Art after living in the USA for years; Ludo asks Isabelle to take on the role of CEO of the family business Rombauts Pharmaceuticals; this displeases her brother, Julien, who has been working for the company for years and has big plans for the company in China.

In her new role as CEO, Isabelle is thrown in at the deep end with negotiations about drug prices; however, her father Ludo cannot resist interfering in the affairs, much to Isabelle's dissatisfaction; Julien travels to China on business and is surprised in several ways.

Lola is still missing, which leaves Art desperate; Julien is still being held captive in China; Isabelle tries to keep several impatient investors on board; she once again has to utilize her talent to improvise; during an important presentation by Isabelle, unexpected help comes from a guest of Julien.

Isabelle learns her brother Julien sold contaminated pills in China; Julien collaborates with businessman Jerry Kwan to avoid legal consequences; Isabelle prepares a major lawsuit in Brussels concerning the antidepressant Aspergon, seeking to hold the company accountable.

Isabelle discovers the harsh side of the pharmaceutical industry; during her research into the drug Aspergon she encounters a lot of resistance, including from her immediate colleagues; to her astonishment, her son Art receives a ticket to travel around the world from his grandparents for his eighteenth birthday; he wants to depart soon.

Isabelle delves deeper into the Aspergon file and travels to Romania with lawyer Hamza; she discovers things that she might not have wanted to know; Ludo has difficulty getting his wife Riekje enthusiastic about his elixir of life; she has other things on her mind: the pianist for her music evening has canceled; Quinten reluctantly becomes the substitute.
