Chip and Joanna Gaines have big ideas for transforming an old brick building into a boutique hotel. Before demolition begins, they must make tough design decisions for the guest rooms, while preserving historical architectural elements.

Jo finalizes design for all four floors of the hotel, and Chip begins demo. They soon find that transforming century-old architecture into a 33-room boutique hotel brings unexpected challenges that require design pivots and an elevator.

Chip and Joanna Gaines renovate a historic building in downtown Waco, Texas, to open Hotel 1928, a new boutique hotel just a few blocks from Magnolia Market at the Silos.

With construction finished, it's go-time for Jo and the team to style all three floors, as well as the rooftop restaurant, with custom furniture and antique finds before opening day, but their progress is hindered by unexpected elevator issues.
