Professional Chef and cooking instructor Chris Halpin travels the back roads of Alberta in search of the perfect home-grown produce for a farm-to-table eating experience. His first stop, the Saskatoon Farm.

At Sylvan Star Cheese, artisans infuse not only spices but a masters touch, passion, and generational knowledge into their cheese making. Two hours down the road there’s a buzz of activity as the bees get ready for winter at Wolf Willow Acres Honey Farm.

At Poplar Bluff Farms, owners Rosemary Wotske and Cam Beard, renowned in the local culinary circle for the potatoes and heirloom carrots they grow, are doing the annual harvest on their 300-acre property. Meanwhile, north of Calgary, David Barchard of Micro Acres farms on a whole different scale. Inside an unassuming warehouse is an entire micro farm full of micro greens.

Ardenode, Alberta is the home to a blooming mushroom business, Red Fox Fungi. This gourmet mushroom farm is a foodie's delight. The operation is run by two self-described mushroom nerds and has taken the Calgary restaurant scene by storm. One of these restaurants is Fire and Flora, where Chef Adam Ryan cultivates relationships with local growers as he prepares unique menus and dishes.

Growers and producers in Southern Alberta are passionate about delicious, wholesome food. We take our ingredients, paired with some fine wines from Calgary’s Metro Vino, and create a menu and meal gathered from Alberta’s backyard.
