Prince John wakes from a sleep spell Katel, a powerful young druidess he thinks he can manipulate to neutralize Robin and, maybe, make the Vikings flee in order to take their lands.

The Prince's plan has backfired, but he manages to throw Robin into the path of one of Katel's spells. Changed into a rooster, Robin must regain his human form to prevent Prince John from taking revenge on Katel with the help of the Vikings he has also manipulated.

Irrefutable proof is discovered that Little John and Prince John were switched at birth. Little John comes to live at the castle, while the fallen Prince is left to fend for himself... And at the mercy of a former accomplice he betrayed.

The mythical Lady of the Lake appears in Sherwood to reveal that Prince John is now called upon to take up the mantle of good King Arthur Pendragon. Richard can only accept the apparition's order, but Robin of course suspects foul play.

After returning from a journey, Prince John pretends to have radically changed: he loses interest in material possessions and says he now wants to work for the people. Not fooled, Robin is on the lookout, but he doesn't suspect the extent of the ruse.

Prince John has figured out how to simultaneously get rich off the villagers’ backs and be loved. When a minstrel starts composing a song to his glory, Robin discovers that the Prince is only paying the villagers half of what a thief is stealing for him.
