Basé sur la série de roman Shounen Tanteidan de Ranpo Edogawa. L’histoire se déroule dans les années 2030. Un groupe de jeunes détectives résoud différentes enquêtes plus ou moins importantes. Un jour, Kensuke Hanasaki, l’un des membres, fait la rencontre de Yoshio Kobayashi, un jeune garçon immortel et suicidaire qui refuse le contact avec les autres personne de son entourage. Éprouvant un certain intérêt pour lui, Hanasaki l’invite à rejoindre son groupe de détective. Ainsi naît la relation entre le criminel surnommé « le démon aux vingt visages » et Kogorou Akechi, le détective de renommé.
