Rumored to be a prize at Expo ‘67, Anne Marie and Jim’s one-of-a-kind cottage comes with no shortage of renovation challenges, even for the Weekend Reno team. First order of business: to rip up water-damaged flooring, but solving the issue proves to be far more work than bargained for. While Anthony works overtime laying the groundwork, Michelle and Merrill revive tired furniture pieces to dress up the space, but setbacks make these cottagers’ dream space seem out of reach in just a weekend. Will the team pull it off?

Marty and Erica’s dream was to own a cottage on the lake where Marty spent his childhood summers. Finally they scooped one up, despite its poor condition and Marty has spent countless weekends renovating rather than enjoying the cottage with his family. Erica has called in the Weekend Reno team so her husband can have one project completed where he doesn’t have to spend thought, time or energy. The master bedroom, and little girl’s room are on the to-do list and the team has their work cut out for them, especially if they are to meet daughter, Stella’s special requests.

Dan and Jeff Holland are a father-son duo who love spending family time at their cottage; however after losing beloved wife and mother Cathy, two years ago, cottage projects have stalled. The Weekend Reno team has been invited in to give much-needed design direction while paying tribute to the place Cathy loved so much. From stonework around the wood stove to a repurposed flea market find, Michelle, Anthony and Merrill go the extra mile to add personal touches that make this transformation all the more special

Wayne and Susan bought their unique log cabin over 30 years ago, but raising a family and busy careers left little time for reno projects and much remains unchanged. Wayne and Susan want a comfortable space where they can now enjoy their retirement, not spent working away on unfinished projects. Enter the Weekend Reno team. Michelle’s design plan attempts to enhance the rustic feel of the cabin while bringing in light to a very dark space. As they work through the massive to-do list Anthony uncovers a daunting project behind wood paneling, while Merrill pieces together a spectacular focal point.

It took Chris and Nelly years to find their dream cottage, and might have taken them years to agree on a design plan, if they hadn’t called in the Weekend Reno team for help. Both commercial architects with a keen eye for design, the Loretis each have a very specific vision of their dream retreat. This means merging two very different tastes; its cabin versus cabana in this classic battle of the sexes. A unique wall-covering makes for a funky focal point and custom carpentry and unexpected flea market finds work wonders to bring the space together.

Kim and Rebecca Hunter are funeral directors who just recently bought their own funeral home. All the money, time and effort put into their business means little is left over for their cottage. They need a Weekend Reno to turn their ‘80s throwback – jokingly called “Pinepalooza” – into a relaxing retreat they can use to escape their stressful jobs and spend quality time together with their son, Jake. The main order of business is tearing out the dingy beige carpet, minimizing the effects of all that pine and creating a functional kitchen. A last-minute project becomes a creative finishing touch.
