Her husband Stefan pleads with her to try therapy for the sake of their unborn child. At the same time, the search for a new chief physician begins, and Martin Stein believes he is the perfect candidate.

Carmen Esser comes to the Sachsenklinik with back pain, where Dr. Martin Stein diagnoses a herniated disc. Her husband Ulrich is absorbed in his work and rarely pays attention to her. When her condition worsens, he suddenly becomes caring and attentive, but his support ends when he leaves for Brussels. Hurt and disappointed, Carmen refuses to take her medication.
