The series follows daily life at the Sachsenklinik in Leipzig and highlights the emotions that unfold between the emergency room, intensive care unit, offices, and cafeteria. The strained relationships among the doctors are as central as the patients they treat. After losing his wife Pia, Dr. Roland Heilmann tries to regain his footing, but his grief pushes him deeper into work and creates tension with his family and colleagues as those around him grow worried about his growing isolation.
