Episode 4
S1, E4: Final episode in the four-part drama series inspired by the historical events of 1666. Thomas has to reveal to Sarah that her husband Will is not dead but has run off to the colonies. Her shock turns to anger as they return to Moorfields. Queen Catherine tells the king in no uncertain terms that James's efforts are failing and it is time he took control himself. Thomas and Sarah's emotional reunion with their children is short-lived when David and Hannah run off to the Navy yards to find out the truth about Will. In the streets, chaos descends as Pepys and his wife witness the lynching of Alfredo the dance teacher. King Charles finally joins an exhausted James, ordering fire-breaks between the houses to be created with gunpowder - but first he has to face down his hostile people. Sarah, Thomas and Mary take refuge from Denton's men in a friendly ropemaker's house, but it is a trap. Sarah is dragged away but Thomas and Mary make their way to Pepys' house to implore him for help.
