Great Expectations

Pip, a blacksmith’s apprentice comes into a handsome property. He believes that his unexpected good fortune has originated from Miss Havisham, an eccentric old lady, and the only person of wealth with whom he was acquainted; as a child he played with her adopted niece, Estella. But Pip’s Great Expectations have emanated from another quarter. When he was a boy, he helped an escaped convict, Magwitch, and to repay him, he left the boy all the money he had made in Australia. Pip does not know this until the convict returns, on penalty of death, to see if Pip is happy in his new life.
