Sarah begins life at Ash Park while hiding a terrible secret from George. And James and Olivia suffer through his treatments at the clinic each in their own way.

Doris Collins witnesses Sarah performing a spiritual cleansing in the creek. The Blighs receive a visit from the Swanson family. Elizabeth hopes Anna will form a romantic attachment to their son. Olivia finally realises that James was in love with her brother, William.

As Sarah and George are about to host their engagement party, Sarah confides to her Aunt Peg her darkest secret. Elizabeth needs Prudence's help in her vendetta against Sarah.

Anna begins instruction in the Catholic faith, and George and Sarah attend each other’s religious services. Roy experiences a crisis of conscience, and Jack pleas with Carolyn to tell him about his daughter.
