Meanwhile, the parents of a boy who fell ill following a visit to Aunt Joan's farm hold her responsible for his condition and threaten to sue her.

Martin disagrees with the holistic approach to care advocated by the village's midwife, and is incensed when her advice to Louisa results in an adverse reaction. Meanwhile, Bert is smitten with the restaurant's new cook, but is devastated to learn that she has a husband. Elsewhere, Edith has dinner with consultant Robert Dashwood, and tells Martin that he will be receiving some good news about the London job.
