Simbi Khali

An actress who has worked primarily in comedies due in no small part to her quick delivery and exceptional timing, Simbi Khali got her start on the Fox sitcom "Martin," with a 1993-1995 recurring role as the best friend of Martin Lawrence's female alter ego Shanehneh. She was featured in an episode of that network's "The Sinbad Show" in 1994, but was even more impressive that year as a cast member of "SHE TV," a sketch comedy series on ABC that displayed her versatility as well as her surprisingly accurate Michael Jackson impersonation. "SHE TV" was a well-received but short-lived series, and the following year Khali made her break into feature films with a role in Wes Craven's horror comedy "A Vampire in Brooklyn," starring Eddie Murphy. In 1996 she was reunited with Martin Lawrence in the comedian's romantic comedy "A Thin Line Between Love and Hate." That same year Khali debuted on "3rd Rock From the Sun" playing Nina Campbell, the efficient and intelligent assistant for professors Mary Albright (Jane Curtin) and Dick Solomon (John Lithgow) on the NBC comedy. Above her sanctioned responsibilities, her character also had other duties including serving as referee and translator for her employers, two stubborn and exceptionally quirky people who frequently butted heads. Khali proved the perfect voice of reason on the series, and brought spark to her straightwoman role.
