Aksel Borgen was acquitted for the murder of his then girlfriend, Karine, 20 years ago. When he returns to his hometown people are once again reminded about the unsolved murder and Aksel realises that he is not welcome.

Aksel is persistent and is not backing down without a fight. Eva is doing her best to keep PWG out of reach for Solar Tech stocks.

Aksel is forced to stay in Lifjord and look for a new CEO for Solar Tech when Eva decides to leave the company. Aksel's family was hit hard when he disappeared so he attempts to repair old wounds.

Aksel has to juggle his relationship with Tonje when Angeline and his son Tim arrive in Lifjord. He is forced to tell his wife about Karine, but he is not telling her the whole truth.

Angeline doesn't think Aksel is innocent anymore and he needs Tonje's help to convince her otherwise. William looks for a new project to invest in and Eva tries to get Erik to testify that Aksel gets violent when he drinks.

After receiving revealing images of Karine, Aksel wants to take up the hunt for the killer. Solar Tech must let people go and Lars is forced to lay-off his friends.
