Two sisters fight for their respective ideas of socialism in a disintegrating East Germany in 1987. Only one of them knows that the third sister lives in the West under a new name.

In 1988, the Stasi tried to silence the opposition and arrested several members of the Environmental Library, including Lotte's friends. But the SED state achieved the opposite.

With the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, Margot knows she has to act quickly. However, her adversary in the Ministry for State Security, Krimling, is quicker. The State Security had a large number of files destroyed.

Margot pushes for arrests to gain more money in exchange for opposition members, and prepares for the worst by hiding the cash. She's also arranging to get Roland to safety.

The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 brings unprecedented change, and Margot must act fast. Lotte hopes for a new kind of socialism.

As the walls crumble around them, Margot and her team hustle to complete their plan. And Margot chooses an unlikely ally when she needs someone who she can trust.
