Kiki and her family flee from Eritrea and head for Finland. In Libya they're met with a misfortune, and Kiki ends up separated from her family. Meanwhile in Finland, Riku steals a van that has a Syrian family hidden in a secret hatch. The driver of the van, Sammy—Kiki's father — tracks Riku down.

To be reunited with her family, Kiki must risk her life and cross the Mediterranean. Riku gets to know Sammy and gets thrown deeper into the depths of human smuggling.

Kiki is in Italy, continuing her journey, not knowing about the tragedy that her family met. Sammy is caught smuggling people and hires Riku to go get Kiki.

Kiki and Riku arrive in Finland, and Kiki registers as an asylum seeker. Kiki goes to see Sammy in prison where she finds out the painful truth — her dad is a human smuggler and doesn't know anything about Liah and Amana.

The truth about Sammy weighs on Kiki's mind. Aman and Liah's whereabouts remain a mystery, but Riku might have an answer.

Kiki buries Aman and starts looking for Liah, with Riku's help. When Sammy gets out of prison during the pre-trial detention, Yonah gives Kiki a hint about where Liah could be found by discreetly guiding her to find the website where she is being sold.
