Grasslands make up the Earth's second largest ecosystem on land. China's grassland makes up an important part of the Eurasian Steppe, and is home to species of Tibetan fox, Plateau pikas, manuls, and snowfinches living in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Cities were among the last ecosystems to emerge on the planet. Although their primary purpose was to meet human needs, other life forms have also been seeking living spaces within these environments.
