Ever Decreasing Circles

At a meeting of the Residents' Association, Martin rants about the fact that he seems to have to do everything himself. He offers to resign as Chairman. To his surprise, Paul proposes the members accept Martin's resignation.

Martin is looking forward to his annual holiday in Austria, where every year he, Ann, Howard and Hilda go to the same hotel.

Martin visits an old lady every week. When he invites her round for tea, she insists on bringing all of her friends. Martin organises an afternoon of activities, planning to finish with a bingo session.

Ann gets involved in a campaign for better grants for Open University students. Martin thinks it's a plot by the Kremlin.

Martin is too tense, even by the standards that normally apply to him, he seems overwrought. Paul teaches him some relaxation techniques.

Martin is overjoyed when Paul talks about leaving the area. He will only stay if he can find new premises for his business. When Martin finds an ideal location, he isn't sure if he should tell Paul.
