The Land Rover is the bedrock of all terrain vehicles. Built in 1948 as a simple car for British farmers, the Land Rover soon became an export hit. Two years later the all-rounder was sold in over 70 countries. Today the Landy is at home all over the world. Car History highlights the story of Land Rover, which evolved into a luxury manufacturer with the introduction of the Range Rover.

3,615 kilometers, 21 days and thousands of liters of diesel. Right in the middle of it are 19 examples of the Land Rover Discovery Sport, one crew and six inexperienced Germans who take on the Australian outback. Their trail leads them from Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory to the Gregory National Park and finally the Ayers Rock. Cut tires and trapped cars are high on the daily agenda.

Every two years, the Land Rover Experience Tour takes adventurers to the most remote areas. The destination this time: Peru! Before the actual Experience Tour can start, a team of eight drivers is on its way through the land of the Incas to find a 2,000 kilometer long, continuous route away from the well-known tourist track. The intensive exploration phase already has a lot of challenges in store.

36,000 applicants want to take part in the Land Rover Experience Tour in Peru, but only 60 make it to the all-important final qualification and can fight for one of the coveted six starting places. Problems are brewing in Peru, however: After catastrophic storms, the exploration team has to fly back to Peru and check if the Land Rover Experience Tour can even take place as planned.

Marcel, Nico, Bastian, Leni, Jenny and Judith have made it: They take part in the ultimate off-road adventure: the Land Rover Experience Tour in Peru. They take on a 2000-kilometer drive far off the beaten track: from the coastal desert on the Pacific to the Andes through the jungle to the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu.

For three days, the convoy crosses remote areas of the Peruvian province Junin. So far, the 45-man team has mastered all obstacles. But there are still 1,200 challenging kilometers through wild Peru ahead of the convoy and serious difficulties are looming: Heavy rainfall, closed roads and altitude sickness among the drivers. Can the team still make it to Peru?
