Warren Jeffs takes over as prophet of the FLDS, a small religious sect that practises polygamy, and names one of his many wives, Naomie, his personal scribe; she joins him on a quest to avoid interest from law enforcement regarding his deviances.

FLDS prophet Warren Jeffs implements a well-mannered reign of terror over his members, tormenting those who trust him the most; eventually, the followers begin leaking information to the authorities, forcing Warren and Naomie on the run.

The law finally catches up to Warren, but he still controls the FLDS faithful from behind prison walls; his legal troubles worsen when authorities raid his Texas compound and uncover disturbing evidence, some directly from Naomie, involving minors.

Warren faces life in prison when the authorities charge him for crimes against children; disenfranchised members, including Naomie, reconcile with their lives after leaving the FLDS.
