Seo Jin-woo reflects on the past as he thinks about his father's murder conviction, and considers how everything began. Jin-woo's memory takes him back four years, to when he was in school.

Jae-hyuk has a meeting with Jin-woo who assures him that their public defender will help; Trouble brews for Jin-woo when the two get to the courthouse.

Jin-woo begs Dong-ho to take his father's case by using his gambling winnings; A flashback shows Jae-hyuk being taken away by a police vehicle and coerced to confess.

Dong-ho has a dinner meeting with Chairman Nam; Gyu-man is worried about his father finding out the truth; Jin-woo and In-ah fight for the truth to get out.

In the present day, Jin-woo arrives late to a cross-examination; In-ah investigates the scene of a robbery; Jin-woo and In-ah pass each other without realising.

Jin-woo has to prove that his client is innocent against the odds; Dong-ho wonders if Jin-woo took this particular case in order to catch Gyu-man.
