    As a reward for rescuing the kidnapped princess Flora, Rio decides to enroll as a special student to the primary school of Bertram Royal Academy. However, the students at the academy, where children of royalty and nobility gather, do not welcome the orphan Rio. The only person who cares for Rio, who is looked down upon by all around him, is Celia, a 12-year-old girl who is the homeroom teacher at the elementary school. Since Rio can't read, Ms. Celia and Rio begin tutoring alone after school.

    After saying goodbye to Celia and leaving the Kingdom of Bertram, Rio arrives at Amand, the trading city of the neighboring Kingdom of Garark. At the stall in front of the castle gate, there were dishes named "pasta" and "manju." Rio thinks that their creator, Liserotte, has the same Japanese memories as himself. After departing the city and entering the forest, Rio sees a girl who fell down. The moment Rio approaches and calls out, she opens her eyes to commit a shocking act.

    A year has passed since Rio has lived in the village, and the day of the Great Spirit Festival has arrived. With the blessing of the tree spirit Dryas, Rio is recognized as a friend of the spirit people. The night of the joyous feast, Rio confesses to Latifah that he intends to leave the village. Latifah cannot accept this and runs off into the forest. Meanwhile, the warriors of the village detect some suspicious movement, which turns out to be a horde of Black Wyverns flying directly at them.
