Calvin Richards has the chance to audition for his favourite show, but stage fright and fear of failure get the best of him; his family helps him take that leap of faith toward his destiny.
The competition gets off to a quick start when all contestants are tasked with creating a unique way to introduce themselves to the world; Drea and Jaxon learn about the rules that contestants and their families must follow.
When another contestant tells Calvin that Sydney and Miles are deceitful, he must overcome his suspicions and learn to trust his new friends as well as his own instincts about how to compete.
As the competition heats up, emotions start to boil over; Miles is on edge; Noah loses patience with Calvin, who thinks Sydney has quit the show because of something he said; Reggie and Drea are missing their friends back home.
After weeks sequestered in the hotel, Calvin spends time with his family; Calvin is paired with Noah during "Duets Week"; Drea and Reggie take time for themselves, leaving Jaxon alone in the hotel suite.
During "Folk Music Week," Calvin struggles to connect to music written years before he was born; Reggie tries to teach him the origins of folk music, but it all comes down to whether Calvin can find the meaning in the music for himself.
