Major Clanger has made a flying machine. With some ceremony the Clangers pump up the compressed air balloons which power it. Major Clanger takes his seat, the machine leaps into action and flaps itself to pieces.

Small Clanger sees something passing overhead in orbit. We do not see it but we hear a suitable noise of its passing over. Major Clanger comes out. They watch it pass again and the next time they follow it running out of shot.

The Clangers have made a rocket. They set it off and, as all the best rockets do, it bursts in a cloud of beautiful coloured stars. They let off another but this one hits something and of load of assorted metal debris falls on their planet. The Clangers take cover. Then they come out and look at the odd objects. They are obviously all parts of the same thing so they carry the pieces below and assemble it. It assembles into an iron chicken which thanks them cordially and walks away through the caves.

All Clangers asleep. We hear very faint music. The music appears to come from the egg the chicken gave Tiny Clanger. Tiny Clanger blinks at the egg, listens to it. She stealthily takes the egg to a distant empty place. She trips and the egg breaks open. As it open the music stops, and out fall some music dots.

The Clangers are peacefully building a house. We hear a whistling sound and down comes something. The Clangers run for cover. The thing is a terrestrial spaceprobe vehicle with large initials on it. It is a tracked vehicle with appendages. The Clangers watch it begin its investigations.

We see the telescope that Small Clanger and Tiny Clanger have. Tiny Clanger is looking for the small star where she thinks the iron chicken lives. They locate the star and see the iron chicken and Tiny Clanger sees that it is wearing the gold chain she made for it. Mrs. Clanger climbs out and calls them in to tea. Small Clanger goes in but Tiny Clanger remains outside alone.
