The Reluctant Vampire

As Val is vampire heir to the throne, there are great expectations for him to follow in his father's traditional footsteps. However, he has never really got to grips with the usual bloodthirsty rites of passage. When it finally looks like he has got what it takes and a date for his official initiation into adulthood is set, his mum reveals a shocking secret. Val finds himself torn between two worlds, with a huge dilemma.

Val has to come up with a plan to pass his vampire initiation ceremony despite his huge secret. However, his curiosity about human life gets the better of him, and he sneaks to the village where he bumps into Gertie and is thrust straight into human family life. His two worlds collide when he's invited to a party.

Leading a double life is proving tricky for Val. He's spending more time in the human village, and his friendship with Gertie is growing but so are Vernon's suspicions. When Victor admits to losing the castle in a card game to his nemesis Alexis, who is visiting, Val realises he needs to be in two places at once to keep both his friends and family happy. The gargoyles try to help Val, but the solution isn't as simple as Val hoped.

Val's friendship with Gertie is tested when vampire hunters arrive in the village, and he's torn between protecting his friendship or his family. Val's brother Vernon is convinced that Val's hiding something and is determined to get proof he's up to something. Victor has to recreate a sculpture to stay in Valeeta's good books.

Wilf suffers a hiccup transforming into a werewolf, and when he goes missing, the vampires decide to disguise themselves as humans and venture into the village to try and rescue him. Val's worlds collide when Vernon leads the vampires straight to Gertie's house, where her family are enjoying the annual celebrations of victories over the vampires.

The day of Val's initiation ceremony approaches, and he still has no idea how he'll pass the vampire test. When his final plan doesn't work out, he realises he can no longer live a double life and is faced with the ultimate dilemma. Should he come clean and risk everything for the chance of a human life or sacrifice who he really is for the sake of his family?
