In Osijek, Igor Kozul, a lonely old fisherman, spots the body of a young girl on the edge of a river. Inspectors Vlado Kovac and Vesna Horak lead the investigation, and suspecting a homicide, they quickly consider Kozul a suspect.

A third girl is found dead in Osijek. In Kyiv, Olga and Nikolay search for Viktor, a sleazy photographer who might know where Katya is.

A psychiatrist from the Osijek hospital has doubts about chief suspect Kozul's guilt. The police have to release him because of their lack of proof and his partial alibi.
