Worzel Gummidge is a scarecrow that can come to life. Living in Ten Acre Field, he often visits the nearby village of Scatterbrook and two children, who often try to clear up the mess he creates.

Worzel's Washing Day
Young John and Sue Peters move to the country with their father, and there they meet Worzel Gummidge - a scarecrow who can walk and talk. They soon discover that their straw companion has a very mischievous nature. When Worzel steals Mr Peters' new sports jacket, the children set off in a pursuit that has Worzel ending up on the local rubbish tip.

A Home Fit for Scarecrows
Worzel craves not only a home of his own, but furniture as well. And when large amounts of domestic articles begin to disappear from different houses in the village, the law becomes most interested.

Aunt Sally
Worzel visits a village fete, where he meets a forlorn Aunt Sally who fears she will be sold to tourists by her grumpy owner, Mr Shepherd. Worzel takes an immediate fancy to her and agrees to change clothes so that she might escape. Could it be the beginning of a romantic relationship for the scarecrow?
EPISODE 4
The Crowman
Cupid strikes as Worzel falls for a scarecrow in an adjoining field. Worzel asks his creator, the Crowman for a handsome new head to impress her. But he finds that his new good looks bring him nothing but trouble.

A Little Learning
Worzel has misplaced one of his many turnip heads and he turns the farm upside down looking for his Clever Head. When he finds it at the nearby school and puts it on, he encounters a teacher who takes him for a genius.
EPISODE 6
Worzel Pays a Visit
John and Sue discover that Worzel's old flame Aunt Sally is working at Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton's house as a maid. It is not long before Worzel decides to pay a visit. Aunt Sally entertains him in style, but scarecrow-style entertaining comes as a shock to the fastidious Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton.
