Private investigator Rapp arrives in Whittock to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park, the wealthy heir to a local fishing business. He is paired with Carson, a detective who is not particularly enthusiastic about working with an outsider.

Rapp and Carson's investigation leads them to a local diner, a university lecture and a drug-fuelled party where something deadly lurks.

The missing persons investigation is now a murder. Carson and Rapp must work together to figure out who might have wanted the victim dead.
