When the detail discovers that Barksdale's drug crew uses pagers to communicate, McNulty becomes determined to get hold of one to listen in on the organisation.

Ziggy loses his prized Camaro to drug-dealers who aren't buying his excuses about not paying up. Unable to dump the homicide investigation on other police agencies, Colonel Rawls identifies Detective Moreland for the blame if the cases go unsolved.

The team's raids prove wholly unsuccessful. McNulty cannot convince any of the suspects to give up Barksdale, and Bodie manages to escape from lock-up.

The case against Barksdale gets political when Greggs and Carver follow a money trail to a congressional aide. Meanwhile, Omar returns with a grudge against the Barksdale outfit.

After a series of raids, Stringer Bell hands down new rules to the drug crew and plans a new strategy to keep his boss away from the limelight. The police's lack of success is starting to bring them pressures.
