Father Ted

After a fortunate transfer to another parish, Ted finds himself in sumptuous surroundings. But he has not escaped the tedium of Craggy Island for long. On his return to the Parochial House he finds things have changed in his absence. Dougal has acquired a new friend, Ronaldo. Mrs. Doyle has taken to falling off the roof, and Father Jack has become agoraphobic. What could be worse? Quite a lot when a Chinese family pays an unexpected visit to the house. Could Ted possibly be a racist? Despite trying to prove otherwise, events conspire against him and his popularity falls to an all-time low. The Annual Sheep Competition is soon to be held on Craggy Island and Ted’s confidence in the performance of Chris the Sheep is such that he bets the annual heating allowance on Chris to win. Chris’s form, however, suffers terribly with the emergence of a fearsome beast on the Island. Ted, unable to renege on his bet, takes Chris in hand, hoping that a rigorous rehabilitation programme will bring him back to form. Mrs. Doyle is transformed into a giggling girl whenever the new milkman, Pat Mustard, pays a visit to the Parochial House. The transformation does not go undetected by Ted who can barely disguise his dislike of Pat’s overt sexuality. Ted decides to play at private detective and ensures that Pat’s job is no more. The ‘All Priests Look-a-like Competition’ has come around again and Henry Sellers, host of the almost popular ‘Morning Quiz’, is coming to judge it. Ted is determined that this year he will defeat his fellow priests from Rugged Island. Ted has a plan and Henry Sellers has an unfortunate sip of sherry. It’s the annual All-Priests Over 75’s Five-A-Side Football Challenge Match against Rugged Island, and Ted suspects that Father Dick Byrne will stop at nothing to win. With Craggy Island’s ace centre-forward Father Jack sound asleep after drinking an entire bottle of “Dreamy Sleepy Nighty Snooze Snooze”, Ted is in deep trouble. Ted, having lost a bet to Dick Byrne, has to kick Bishop Brennan up the arse. Coincidentally, Bishop Brennan and his side-kick, Father Jessup, arrive at the Craggy Island Parochial House to see the image of the Bishop which has miraculously appeared in the skirting board of Ted’s spare room. Ted now has no excuse but to carry out the forfeit.
