It's June of 1983 and Keiichi Maebara has just moved to the isolated village of Hinamizawa. After befriending a few classmates, he learns about an upcoming festival to honor a local deity, but something about it seems sinister and insidious.

Keiichi learns of a murder that occurred during construction of the dam; PE class disturbs Keiichi; the town celebrate the Watanagashi Festival.

Demon Deception: Part 3
The Watanagashi Festival ends with Rika's ritual performance and the villagers giving thanks to guardian diety Oyashiro-sama; Keiichi meets a detective named Ooishi.

Demon Deception: Part 4
Keiichi grows more suspicious of Rena, but Rika doesn't think he has reason to fear her and says Keiichi should question himself instead.
EPISODE 5
Cotton-Deceiving Chapter, Part 1
Rena and Mion summon Keiichi to the toy store for a tournament, and they are split into separate groups; Keiichi has trouble with his game.
EPISODE 6
Cotton-Deceiving Chapter, Part 2
Keichi and the gang play a variety of games at the local shop; later, Keichi meets someone surprising at a maid cafe.
