Macross Delta

Hayate, a young part-time worker at the port of the planet Al Shahal, encounters Freyja, a girl who has hidden away in a container. She has travelled from her home planet to audition for the Tactical Sound Unit Walküre.

Delta Flight and Walküre quell the riot, forcing the attackers to withdraw from Al Shahal. Freyja travels with Hayate to planet Ragna for the Walküre audition but learns she is ineligible without qualifying. She begs Mirage for a chance to audition.

Mirage, opposing Hayate's enlistment in Delta Flight, is assigned as his instructor. Hayate ignores her and skips training except for practical flying lessons to chase Ragna's mercats. Frustrated, Mirage focuses on teaching him flying skills.

Freyja feels restless before her debut as a Walküre at a vaccine concert on Randall. Just before the performance, Mikumo asks her what feeling she sings with, forcing Freyja to ask herself what she sings for.

The Aerial Knights, who wield the Var with the legendary Singer of the Wind, swiftly bring down two stars. Despite suspicions that Freyja is a spy, she maintains a determined and cheerful facade in front of the team.

Xaos and the New U.N. Spacy lose ground to a group of manipulated soldiers that have been infected by Vár. Messer scolds Hayate, who targets only the wings of enemy aircraft instead of the pilot and warns him against naive tactics.
