In the year 2059. the Vajra aliens attack the 25th Frontier fleet in the galactic centre. Alto Saotome, a bored colonist, joins the Valkyrie pilots in their defence of the new galactic Frontier.

Sheryl Nome, the famous galactic idol singer, comes to the Macross Frontier Colonial Fleet for the final phase of her 18-month concert tour. During her first concert on the Frontier, an unidentified but powerful alien threat begins to attack.

Hard Chase
After the original pilot is killed in action, Alto Saotome takes command of one of the S.M.S. Skull Squadron's VF-25 Messiah fighters to protect himself and Ranka Lee. Ozma Lee takes Alto to headquarters to find out how his teammate died.

On Your Marks
After Ozma Lee removes Alto Saotome from Strategic Military Services' headquarters, Alto unexpectedly runs into Ranka Lee and Sheryl Nome at an observation park as they plan their next move.

Miss Macross
After being accepted into the S.M.S., Alto Saotome is put through tests by his comrades. Ranka Lee passes the preliminary rounds of the Miss Macross Frontier contest auditions and performs a song for the final screening stage.

Sheryl Nome seeks out Alto Saotome to help her find the Fold Quartz earring, a keepsake from her mother Sally Nome, that she lost during her first concert at the colony.

Bye-Bye, Sheryl
The president of an entertainment production firm scouts Ranka. While Sheryl prepares for her farewell concert on the final day of her tour, she receives word that the Macross Galaxy fleet is under attack by a large horde of Vajra.
