With both Reggie's mother and Nicola's father interfering in his marriage, and his inability to get on with people at work, Reggie Perrin finds himself taking a step too far with Jasmine.

Reggie enjoys teaching at Nicola's school in his search to find a new focus in his life, and he invites the class to spend a day at Groomtech, with disastrous consequences.

When Reggie goes to Helsinki on a business trip with Jasmine, his marriage to Nicola faces its sternest test. Meanwhile, Chris has concerns that Reggie is faltering.

Chris seeks Reggie's help as he struggles to convince the Groomtech board that he is the right man for the job.
