Morihito, secretly an ogre, is tasked with becoming a familiar to his childhood friend Nico, a novice witch, after she moves in with him.

On the first day of school, Morihito urges Nico to hide the fact that she is a witch, but she tries using magic to secretly help him out in class.

Starting to get used to the presence of his childhood friend, Morihito hopes to make the most of those little moments of early-morning joy that are important to him. But he can't count on Nico, who is desperate to get his attention.

Kanshi explains that Nico's mother sent him to protect her. He clashes with Morihito, but takes a moment to warn him of an enemy within the school.

Ms Makuwa discovers that one of her students, Kukumi Ureshino, is a fan artist for her favourite manga series. A student is feeling unwell, and a student is training to be a cat scout.

After creating a unique charm to help a fellow student with her love confession, Nico becomes aware of Morihito's rising popularity among girls at school, stirring feelings of jealousy within her.
