Lord Vishnu assures Goddess Prithvi that he will descend on earth in the form of a human to save humanity. On earth, King Dasharatha promises Kaikeyi of granting her two wishes for saving his life. The childless King Dasharatha performs a 'yagna', with Rishi Shringi being the high priest. The three queens have the sacred 'kheer'. They conceive and deliver sons. Vasistha names Kaushalya’s son Ram, Kaikeyi’s son Bharat and Sumitra’s twin sons Lakshman and Shatrughna.

Ram and his brothers grow up into teenagers. Vasistha performs the sacred thread ceremony of the four children. The children take a donation from their mothers in the form of grains and head towards Gurukul. There, they learn the different aspects of life. The gurus teach yoga, archery, etc. As time passes by, Ram and his brothers grow into young men. The news of the homecoming of the four sons after their training brings joy to the family.

Ram and his brothers return to Ayodhya post their training at Gurukul. Vishwamitra visits the palace and asks King Dasharatha to send Ram with him to fight the demons. Ram confronts Taraka and kills the demoness within her, and releases her from the curse of Rishi Agastya. Later, Vishwamitra and the other sages begin the 'yagna'. On the 5th day, Taraka's sons, Maricha and Subahu attempt to disrupt the 'yagna'. But, Ram kills Taraka's sons.

Vishwamitra tells Ram and Lakshman about King Janak's decision of getting Sita married to the man who lifts the Shiv Dhanush. On the way to Mithila, Vishwamitra stops at an abandoned hermitage and tells Ram and Lakshman about Ahalya. She was turned into a stone by her husband, Gautama. Ram touches Ahalya with his feet and liberates her from the curse. Later, Vishwamitra, Ram, and Lakshman reach Mithila. Sita and Ram gaze at each other in the garden.

Ram and Sita get attracted towards each other. The next day, many kings arrive for Sita's 'swayamvar' and try carrying the Shiv Dhanush. But they all fail. Then, Vishwamitra requests Ram to lift the Dhanush. Sita prays to Goddess Parvati and promises to sacrifice 14 years of her life if Ram succeeds in lifting the Dhanush. And much to her happiness, Ram lifts the Dhanush and ties a string to it. Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu gets angry as the Dhanush breaks.

Ram, with his polite words, calms Parashuram's anger and clears his doubts regarding his identity. On Ram's suggestion, Vishwamitra speaks to King Janak to get Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughna married to his daughters. King Janak happily accepts the proposal. Demon Banasura enters the palace to abduct Sita. He takes Sita's look and talks to Ram. Lakshman shoots an arrow at Sita and kills Banasura. Later, King Dasharatha and his sons come to Mithila for the wedding.
