Robotech

A world war comes to an abrupt halt when an advanced, abandoned alien fortress crash-lands on Earth; ten years later, an international effort rebuilds the ship into the SDF-1, but aliens called the Zentraedi interrupt its launch by staging an attack.

Zentraedi forces attack the island before SDF-1 can lift off; Rick rescues a girl named Minmei and attempts to escape in a Veritech fighter plane, but struggles to pilot the alien vessel, which can also transform.

In order to avoid the total destruction of the Earth, the crew of the SDF-1 make an untested jump into hyper-space.

Rick and Minmei find themselves trapped inside an unexplored area of the gigantic Space Battle Fortress.

Captain Gloval plans a daring strategy to convert the SDF-1 into a robotic configuration to do battle with the Zentraedi forces.

As the crew rebuilds Macross City with the ship's transformation procedure in mind, Rick decides to join the Robotech Defense Force; the forces take the fight to Saturn's rings, where they hope to break through a Zentraedi blockade.
