A group of old friends, Ray (Bob Hoskins), Lenny (David Hemmings) and Vic (Tom Courtenay), get together to make a nostalgic journey from London to Margate to scatter the ashes of Jack (Michael Caine), one of their crew. As they make their way, in a series of flashbacks, they reflect on their friendship with all its secrets, resentments, and deep loyalty.
