Hyun-soo takes his father's taxi to a party without asking, and a woman mistakes it for an on-duty taxi. The two end up spending the night together, and it turns his life upside down.

All evidence points to Hyun-soo as the perpetrator but he claims to have memory loss. Shin Jun-han becomes interested in the case and volunteers to defend him.

Hyun-soo remains locked up in the correctional facility and tries to adapt to the environment. Joong-han searches for evidence to help Hyun-soo.

Two attorneys offer to take the place of Joong-han in helping Hyun-soo prove his innocence. However, their seemingly helpful offer turns out to complicate the problem.

Hyunsoo breaks his promise and proclaims his innocence in court, and Mikyung gives up on him. He is having a hard time in the detention center since he caught Park Doosik's attention, but he ends up being saved by Jitae, who is looking out for him. Meanwhile, Soojin has been assigned to take over Hyunsoo's defense, and she asks for Joonghan's help to be her co-counsel. Joonghan asks his ex-wife, Hong Jeongah, who works in forensics, for her help.

Hyunsoo faints during the on-site inspection conducted in the jury's presence. Sangbeom, convinced that Hyunsoo is the murderer, thinks that he is putting on an act. Amidst anxiety over her first time leading a defense case, Soojin manages to win over the jurors. Meanwhile, Joonghan learns that Yoon Hyojeong, who was living with Gookhwa, had cut off all relations with her.
