The 16-year-old adventuring sorceress Lina Inverse runs into the mighty yet scatterbrained swordswoman Gourry Gabriev on her journey to Atlas City.

Lina and Gourry go to a magic shop in town to sell treasures that Lina snatched from the bandits.

Lina meets Zelgadis Graywords, a cursed swordsman and a mixture of human, golem and demon.

Lina and Gourry try to find a way to stop Shabranigoodoo's resurrection.

Lina is confined to Zelgadis's hideout.

Rezo appears in front of Lina and calls Zelgadis a traitor. Lina learns of the relationship between them.
