A young peace activist seeks to escape his repressive life. He leaves Phoenix for San Francisco, looking for safety and a sense of community, but quickly finds that the struggle is as difficult in California as it is in Arizona.

A group of individuals aim to fight Proposition 6 in San Francisco, in order to further the rights of the LGBTQ community.

Cleve, Ken and Roma combine their efforts in fighting Proposition 6. Roma learns that her ex is pregnant, and Cleve joins Harvey Milk's campaign for election to the Board of Supervisors.

Cleve organises a march on the US capital to demand rights for marriage equality. Ken has trouble reconciling his sexuality with his religious beliefs.
